Fisheries charity auction offers lots that money can’t buy!

Salmon & Trout Conservation UK
July 6 2017

Salmon & Trout Conservation UK (S&TC UK) has announced that bidding for unique and extraordinary encounters available through its annual auction will open on 18th September 2017.

The now eagerly awaited S&TC UK  annual on-line, silent and live auctions are gearing up to offer some truly remarkable and rare opportunities to bid for exclusive fishing opportunities, stunning works of art, fishing and feasting packages as well as special shoot days all of which will be the envy of family and friends.

For starters, S&TC UK is delighted that renowned New Forest wildlife sculptor, Geoffrey Dashwood, is generously donating a new life-sized bronze sculpture to the charity’s auction this year.

This magnificent limited edition piece will be specially created for S&TC UK’s ‘live’ auction, which takes place on Thursday 12th October 2017.

The online auction opens on 18th September and will run for six-weeks, while the silent and live auctions will be held during S&TC UK’s prestigious Dinner, held in the classic splendour of Fishmongers’ Hall in London.  The redesigned auction site will include the facility for bidders not attending the Dinner to leave commission bids.

At last year’s auction and Dinner an impressive £100,000 was raised, but the hope is to achieve significantly more this year.

Veronica Kruger, the S&TC Dinner and Auction organiser says, “With the support of our generous donors and bidders we feel very confident that we will make it – and even, perhaps a little bit more.

“There is something for everyone and to suit every pocket in both the online and live auctions.  From a VIP day at Newbury Races to a classic two nights fishing break at the famous Arundell Arms in Devon.  Generous donations mean that we can offer every kind of fishing – sea trout, salmon grayling and bass, covering the length and breadth of Britain, including exclusive opportunities to go chalkstream fishing and some sea fishing too.  Guide prices start at just £40.”

Paul Knight, Chief Executive of S&TC UK says, “We rely heavily on this major annual fund-raising event to support our important scientific research as we do not receive any funding from Government.  Our on-going national Riverfly Census has clearly identified the shocking state of our freshwater rivers and chalkstreams. But there is much more that needs to be done in terms of research and providing the evidence and data needed to protect our rivers and aquatic wildlife as well as identifying workable solutions.  We hope that as many people as possible who love to fish or just enjoy these unique river environments will support us and join in the competition to bid for some exceptional experiences.

The S&TC Annual Online auction opens on Monday 18th September (when registration opens at www.salmon-trout.org).
